雅思大作文解析及范文
Multi-cultural societies, which is a mixture of different ethnic groups, bring more benefits than drawbacks to a country. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
题目翻译：多元文化社会，一个不同群体的混合体，给一个国家带来的益处多于弊端。你同意不同意？
郑州朗阁培训中心雅思写作专家认为：很多考生可能对于ethnic一词不太熟悉，但是它所在的定语从句是对multi-cultural societies的解释，因此我们不难猜出其意为民族的或种族的。另外，由于ethnic和ethic(伦理的)拼写有所相似，所以考生要注意区分。
本题属于观点类问题，回答时注意优点和缺点的比较。如果同意，需证明利大于弊；反之则可以论证弊大于利或者利弊相当。所以，总的来说对于考生思路的要求更多。
雅思写作思路分析：
利： 文化多样性，学习不同文化习俗，拓宽眼界；多元文化(multiculturalism)使城市丰富多彩，促进旅游发展；移民(immigrants)多为勤奋者，可创造更多经济价值。
弊：语言障碍(language barrier)及文化冲突(cultural shock)导致的移民失业问题及贫富差距；种族(race)信仰(religion)不同造成的歧视和区别对待，给社会安全带来威胁(pose a threat to social security)。
范文：
It seems an inevitable and irreversible trend that more countries are filled of multiple cultures, which has brought tremendous influence on society. However, whether multiculturalism is beneficial remains controversial. I am convinced that the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.
It cannot be neglected that multiculturalism does bring some detriments. Because of the language barrier and cultural shock encountered, immigrants might have difficulties in job-hunting, which directly leads to high unemployment and wider wealth-poverty gap. Apart from this, different races and religions might trigger some issues, such as discrimination and religious conflicts. Some existing inhabitants are likely to think they are superior to those new comers, treating immigrants with a biased attitude. These problems, combined, can easily create the opposite if united society, posing a threat to social security.
On the other hand, merits of this tendency are more conceivable. Firstly, diversity of residents means more cultural values to share and more knowledge and tradition to learn, such as customs or rituals, life and work attitudes from colleagues from other ethnic groups. Indigenous people explore exotic items or matters without travelling far to another country. Additionally, culture collision makes a city more alive, unique and fascinating, attracting tourists from all over the world to visit and bring enormous economic value. Such cities as New York, Sydney and Paris, mixing with different cultures, from Asiatic to western civilization, are famous tourism sites. Moreover, most immigrants are industrious are diligent, especially the first generation, who contribute to the construction of a country with
different sets of skills.
In conclusion, although conflicts or biases exist among different cultures, the whole society benefits more from the popular trend of multiculturalism, ranging from personal experience and tourism to economic value.
